Yoga, The Iyengar Way by Silva, Mira and Shyam Mehta:This was the first yoga book I ever purchased way back in the, ahem, 90's. The pictures are archaic and the pages are releasing from their spine! I STILL reference this one often. The home practice sequences are perfect for beginners.

Yoga Mind, Body, and Spirit by Donna Farhi: Lovely book--thoughtfully written and a wealth of good information. Wonderful advice and sequencing for home practice.
30 Essential Poses for Beginning Students and Their Teachers, by Judith Lasater: This is made for beginners! Teachers will find valuable sequencing and adjustment tips.
Vinyasa Krama, by Matthew Sweeney: Quite a step in a different direction, but it scratches my Ashtanga itch and provides variety in the practice. Probably not for beginners (except for the most exceptional Chandra sequence), shoot, probably not for me either, but I love his sequencing and I can usually figure out modifications/subsitutions for the poses that are way out of my league. His essays on vinyasa techniques and yoga in general are worth the cost of the book.
